Web Trends for 2008
There are a series of great article on what is in and what is out for 2008. I am particularly interested in some of the aspects for this simply because of what I am working on. I will give the first hint in this article, item #1:
1. Integration into everyday devices(suggested bymMark Schonevel); As examples Mark mentioned your grocery-ordering refrigerator and your health-monitoring bathroom. Commenter #63, Jack, had a nice term for this: “device pervasiveness”. One can imagine Microsoft and Google battling it out in this domain over the coming years.
The stuff I have been working on will be available soon and in places you may not expect. We are doing some killer development over here and it feels good for me to be back in engineering. I was just writing specs before and when this project came up and my design was considered, I wanted back in. We have made hefty progress on this and it is pretty awesome. I am happy because there are many elements which are being used and in the articles below are many good ideas and examples. We are also (once the base architecture is complete) going to be able to expanded our platform into many uncharted territories of services on the web. Pretty stealthy right now but sort of not.
