There is the typical scam going around email about a free McDonald’s coupon. The one that they say print it out and present it at a McDonald’s. Everyone should know about it, its the same old bit, it looks something like the one below.

There are a couple of great little things on line about the whole SCO thing. 1) FSF’s Position regarding SCO’s attacks on Free Software 2) GNU Questions: RMS on SCO, Distributions, DRM The interview with Richard M. Stallman is great, there is a great quote about open source: A non-free program is a predatory social system that keeps people in a state of domination and division, and uses the spoils to dominate more. It may seem like a profitable option to become one of the emperor’s lieutenants, but ultimately the ethical thing to do is to resist the system and put an end to it. That’s it.. B:)

Here is a little interesting fact. If you go here you can see what type of OS, Webserver and Hosting history that an particular site is running. Here is the listing for windowsupdate.microsoft.com. It is not as it appears though. Microsoft moved the redirect from windowsupdate.com to the linux site to help them battle the blaster worm. It worked. This is just funny that they had to use linux to foil the worm. The redirect makes it appears though that Linux is running IIS but it is not. The cache hosting company that they use, Akamai, use Linux and that the Windows Server 2003 with IIS is running behind it. So if you do a NetCraft lookup it appears that Linux is running IIS. I just thought it was a pretty cool and smart way to protect their (Microsoft) interest.
