Just a little chaos

I have been working like a mad man lately. I have an amazing amount of work to do. So I haven’t been able to get updating my blog. I have been attempting to get my last system upgraded at work to Win 2K and ICM 4.6.2 and once I have done that I am finished with that. I became the proud owner of a old failing system around March of last year. I have been attempting to get that system up to spec all this time. I have the last three machines to go and I am really happy. I have had to endure so many problems including PBX upgrades. PBX upgrades never go as planned, there is always on core that will not do what you want it to do. I have also had to deal with link upgrades (Merdian to Symposium) and other various network issues. Once the upgade is complete the system will be stable and happy. We I started the project the system was producing 500,000 to 750,000 errors a day system wide. Now I have fixed and configured it does to about 5,000 errors a day. And of these errors only 300 to 500 are system errors, the rest are PBX timeout errors that I have no control over. I think that I have done a great job in getting the system normalized. I am so ready to do something else. I really want to do software development again. I am really sick of working on something that I have no control over. I really wish there was some sort of open source alternative, so thing that I could make changes to and repair if needed.

Liam’s Grandparents…

Liam has been a very busy boy. He has had his Grammie Norton visit last week and his Grandparents Slater and Great Grandma Hazel visiting this week. My brother was also in town last week and finally got a chance to meet Liam. Carolyn and I are loving the way that everyone wants to meet and greet our little boy. Liam is now almost 10 weeks old and he is now 10 lbs. 7 oz. that is a big change from the 6 lbs. 1 oz. that he was at birth. He is so amazing and so beautiful. I am so proud to be his father. Here are some pictures for all the people coming to visit our little guy.

Vulcan FlipStart

Vulcan 1
Vulcan 2
Forbes has an article on the new Vulcan FlipStart concept. It runs Windows XP ( I would like to see it run Linux) and is a full PC. It is very much like the oQo in its functionality except it does not require an external keyboard for input (thought port replication will be available). It contains a 30 GB hard-drive and has a screen resolution of 1,024 pixels by 600 pixels. On the Lid it will have LID Module (short for Low-power Interactive Display). This is super cool for accessing quick data. I am really looking forward to more companies putting out full powered PCs in a small frame. I will buy one as the market makes is cheaper. I believe that the price point should be the same a laptop in the mid-range price.
