It is 2:27 am on Friday and I am still here at the office. The restoration of the data into the Logger has taken almost 6 hours and the HDS has taken about 4 hours. There is about 2 hours left on the Logger and 8 hours left on the HDS. This Change Control was scheduled for 48 hours with good reason. I tried to close my eyes for a little while and that wasn’t any good. I just can’t wait to test the system and get it back up and running fully duplexed. I also have to restore WebView and then make sure that the data is being updated. I hopefully will get a chance to go home around 9 or 10 this morning. The best part is I get to do it again next week this time in Arlington. I hope it goes smother than this upgrade. I will give a report later as to weather I was succesful or not in the upgrade.

Today I am upgrading Side A of my central controller in our production environment in Cisco ICM finally from Win NT to Win 2K. This a massive upgrade and it is a trick one. There are so many possible failure points to watch for. Currently I am backing up all the historic data tables (34.6 GB) and then I can proceed with the rebuild. This part always gets me nervous because Cisco backup scripting is bad. I should write a store procedure myself for it but that would take too long. I will update with my progress later.

So finally after years and years of waiting, Lucas is going to release the DVD version of the Star Wars Trilogy. Lucas Films has released a statment about the release so it is offical. I am the biggest Star Wars geek and I have wanting this forever. I am so excited that it will also include a 4th DVD of bonus features. This release is going to be the 1997 special edition version not the orginal theatrical release but I don’t care. I just want it and I want it now.

It has been a pretty busy week for me. Carolyn’s Mom has been visiting and I have getting ready for big project at work. I have shifted my focus lately on some .net dev projects and will get back into my php ones later. Work is crazy but good. I want to get into a standard software company soon. I really don’t like doing the ICM stuff that much any more, I want to do more software development. I hope will be able to soon.
