Hanging around Seattle
Arrived yesterday in Seattle for business and I forgot how beautiful the it is. I was in Everrett and the view of the mountains and water was just amazing. Everything is so beautiful up here. It is interesting how people drive around here. Everyone does the speed limit, it seems that everyone is just going to get there when they get there, very very different from the Bay Area. It seems to be a much more mellow atomsphere. While I was here I had a chance to go see everyone at Dexterra. I talked with Rob, Dave, Gunndar, Geoff, Brian and Mark. It was like a little Octane reunion. I had to get some work done yesterday, so Mark hooked me up with a hotel cube which was great. Dexterra is interesting becuase who is running it and who funded it, the joke is that it is the startup born with a silver spoon in it’s mouth.
After hanging out there, I went to Mark’s house and had dinner with him and Jennifer. I was really great to see everyone again. I have hung out with more former Octane people and I really start think about how good we had it. It is really rare that you can have that kind of experience with people and years later still keep in touch. Octane wasn’t perfect but it was damn close. We time to get ready and go back to the customer site today. Tonight I am going to have dinner with Andrew and Justine (more former Octane people). I really wish there was away to get everyone back together and buikd a new company with such an amazing team. I will tell you PostX is coming in a very close second, the people there are just as amaizing and excitement is pretty close to that Octane feeling.
