So, it seems that the site freeiPods.com is actually not a scam. It is a carefully deployed marketing game. I mean, yes it asks you to sign up for some stuff like RealRhapsody and other things like AOL. There is an article in Wired about it. The link to the freeiPods is a link to my user request. If you can get 5 people to sign up, you can free iPod. I figured what have I got to loose.

Liam and I just relaxing this morning taking it easy. He is just amazing in the morning. We have a bunch of things we need to do today it should be fun. I really need a hair cut. I also need to get everything ready for our trip to New Hampshire next week.

I have so much work to do today. I have been on the phone all morning,working with customers. It has been one of those days. I have a couple of python bugs in my script for my XML parser. Using python for complex XML is hard. When you get into 900 elements. Well I will have more later.

I have been doing a large amount of work with IBM lately. It has been eating up most of my time. I had to build a test box yesterday on AIX 5.2 with WebSphere 5.1.1 and DB2 8.1. What a pain in the ass. We are running some tests on a pSeries 615 with a 1.25 PowerPC processor and 1 GB of ram. It is a pretty fast machine but AIX has some sutble differences that make it painful. Most of the configuration and work is done via SSH and I rarely use VNC to access the machine. The major problems that I ran into was that WebSphere 5.1.1 uses JVM 1.4.1 and DB2 8.1 is using JVM 1.3.1. This only causes problems when I am try to open any sort of UI with DB2. I really don’t mind (acutally I prefer) to use the shell to do all of my DB2 work, but almost all the instuctions for DB2 use the GUI. Well, today I am finishing up my python xml editor script and then completing my empolyee consulting billing system. I hope to have the alpha release done by Friday. I will be rebranding it for release the following week for my website for anyone to download. I have the feeling that this is a product just wait to happen. We will see.

I got back from Florida last night and I am still very tired. Florida is a very interesting place. It was very hot and very humid. It has itself caught between trying to be cosmopolitan and country. I was in a place called Destin, this is half way between Pensacola and Panama City. It is in the northern pan handle. It was a pretty cool, though typical beach area. I was lucky enough to stay in the Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort. I was very high end and very posh. It was hugh but was still able to retain a certain southern charm. I am watching Liam right now and he is just so amazing. I am very happy to be home and look foward to a couple of days of being with my family. I am going sailing with my boss tomorrow and I can’t wait. I have been really bad this month about updating my blog. It is not like any one is really reading it. If you are please post a comment.
