Glowing Apple

So the glowing apple on the front of my powerbook does the reverse if light is coming from behind it. Very annoying but funny.

Stories of late

  • The demise of the geek bloggers – Very interesting read as I type in my 2G Blog
  • Google Talk – I really am digging this, I have it set up with adium as a jabber client.
  • The $50 Million Giveaway – VC’s ready to give money away, for the right idea…
  • Redford and Newman may pair up again on screen – I hope that would work out, at least one last time.
  • Konfabulator – I am not really using dashboard any more, I have maybe one or two active. I installed Konfabulator for a couple of little widgets they offer. I like because they are always there and I don’t have to hit f12 to get it opened.
  • mailTags – a very interesting and useful product. This may be something Alex may want to look at.
  • Bush Vacation To End; Error Alert Raised – just funny
  • New Orleans braces for monster hurricane – “Forecasters predicted the storm surge could reach 28 feet; the highest levees around New Orleans are 18 feet high.” – Yikes. Let’s see what it is like tomorrow.
  • Squirrel helps with mobile calls – Strange

    G Wireless goodness

    So I finally upgraded my wireless and LAN at home. I went with a Dlink (because it was cheap) wireless router. It is amazing the difference sitting here on the couch doing my thing. I really like the boast in speed, not only does all my sites seem snapper but my internal LAN is amazing. I do a lot of rsyncing of data between my machines and a giant file server I have. I store everything there. It is off the network but I connect one a week to back it up. I have it encrypted for safety and it is heavily protected. I am also using a pretty cool product to blog this, it is called ecto. I just like being able to compose a blog message and not have to be connected to a network to do it. I am going to purchase a license soon in support.

    Google Talk

    This is very cool. Adium my favorite IM client. All it takes is a Jabber comptible IM client. The instructions are available here. It is very interesting that the little seach engine that could has grown into such a content giant.

    Back to Montgomery

    Well, I came back on Friday from Alabama and had a great weekend. It was really wonderful. Now I have to head back there for 2 days. I checked the Accuweather forecast and I am not too happy, I really hate humidity.
