Google Operators

I found this great article on Google Operators. The original information was posted on Digital Point and describes some master commands for Google. These are pretty cool little commands that will allow you to view a multitude of information about your site and other related Google tidbits.

  • link:www.yoursite.com - Show’s you some/most of the links google counts to your page.
  • related:www.yoursite.com - find sites google deems related to any given site.
  • site:www.yoursite.com - search the pages of a specific site.
  • allinurl: shows only pages with all terms in the url.
  • inurl: like allinurl, but only for the next query word.
  • allintitle: shows only results with terms in title.
  • intitle: kind of like allintitle, but only for the next word. “intitle:webmasterworld google” finds only pages with webmasterworld in the title, and google anywhere on the page.
  • cache:url gives you googles cashed (what google has on record) of a site.
  • info:url will give you some info about a given site.
  • spell: - does a spellcheck (you don’t have to do this, google will spellcheck any words searched).
  • stocks: does a search for stocks.
  • filetype: does a search for a specific file type, or, if you put a - in front of it, it won’t list any results with that filetype.
  • daterange: is supported in Julian date format only. 2452384 is an example of a Julian date.
  • maps: shortcut to do a google maps search.
  • phone: searches for anything that looks like a phonenumber.
  • allinlinks: searches only within links, not text or title.
  • allintext: searches only within text of pages, but not in the links or page title.

    Liam turns 2

    On Sunday was Liam’s second Birthday. His is getting so big. We had a dual celebration of Liam’s and Killian’s Birthday. We had a lot of friends come by and the party was great. I just can’t believe that he is two years old now.

    3D Without The Glasses

    Ok, this is pretty cool. The “wiggle” effect to produce 3D images is both fascinating and nauseating at the same time. It does give the visual perception that it is 3D from two fixed 2D images, crude sense of dimensionality. Fun stuff. I am going to try and create a could of images of my own. A very cool site is Jim Gasperini’s page. He has some other great examples of this. Also there is a tutorial here.
