Mix’06 Davey reports in..

I picked Davey up from the airport tonight upon his return from Las Vegas where he attended Microsoft Mix’06. He said that the first day was fun and that is kind of went down hill from there. He did say that they did have some exciting prospects. I will say from a personal opinion that Microsoft has a really good development environment. I still love to use Microsoft Visual Studio .Net for a bunch of stuff for my phone (Samsung i730 w/ MS Mobile 2003 SE) and I have also used it to develop some CTI application along the way. They do a have a knack for that. Here are some links to Davey’s reporting on Mix’06

  • Mix06 – Keynote
  • IE7 the future
  • Advertising is a software problem.
  • Screwing with the 800lb Gorilla
  • Die Macrodobe Die !
  • Mix06 – Day 1 General Observations
  • Mix06 – Day 2 so far so bored…
  • I really wish I could have been there with Davey and whipped out my Powerbook with him. Especially if I was only a couple of rows away from Mr. Gates. Davey did bring me back a pretty killer t-shirt also.

Virtual Desktops, Web based, dare I say 2.0

I was at Alex’s blog today and on his Around the Web post he had a fascinating link about a review of Goowy. I signed up and I am beginning to play around with it. I will have a more detailed review later but I really think there something here. It is not the only one out there like this. I have had a virtual desktop for a while now at eyeOS . It has been fun to play around with these AJAX base desktops. I can’t wait to see where this is all going and I am starting to get some great ideas. I can’t wait until Mashup Camp 2 to see the future.

    Treo 700P Release date.. Finally

I have been using a Samsung i730 for a couple of months now while I waited for a worthy Palm smart-phone. I was a happy user of a Treo 600 for a long time. Then is simply started to die one day. Since then I have been using a multitude of phones (SMT5600, Blackberry 7100T and now i730). Overall the i730 is a good solid phone but I have my issues with it. The windows smart-phones are great simply for the activesync software. Now that Palm has the licence to do it I would switch. I the reason I like the activesync software is that I don’t have to pay another company to allow me to connect and sync with my Exchange server (i.e. Goodlink or BlackBerry). Well, like some other friends of mine I held off on the Treo 650. Well I hope the 700P will be the answer. Here is the scan below.

    Seattle Wrapup

Today I am leaving the lovely Seattle area to finally head home. It has been a hectic week between work and catching up with old friends. I had a great time in Seattle. Seattle is one the places I would consider relocating to eventually. The people are wonderful and it is absolutely gorgeous. It was really great to see James, Beverly, Andrew, Stan, Doug, Mike and company while I was here. It is amazing that even 4 years since working together that we are still able to keep in touch. It also made me realize that I miss working and seeing these people on a daily basis. I have a bunch of photos and will publish them when I get back in to San Jose. I really can’t wait to get back home and see Carolyn and Liam.
