MPAA pushing things a little too far!!! (or a good sense of humor!)
There is an interesting article about some legislation that is being proposed by the MPAA that would require anyone with a home theater register and pay $50. Holy crap!!! This is crazy in this day and age a lot of people have home theaters and if you don’t register you may have to pay fines up $500,000… WTF… According to MPAA head Dan Glickman “Just because you buy a DVD to watch at home doesn’t give you the right to invite friends over to watch it too. That’s a violation of copyright and denies us the revenue that would be generated from DVD sales to your friends,”… So what do you ask defines a “Home Theater” well it is simply any area in the home that has a 29″ or larger television with “Stereo” that has at least two comfortable chairs, couch or futon. Well, I guess that is about everyone in America that has upgraded there living and/or den and/or family room and/or bedroom in the past 5 years. This is getting ridiculous. Between this and a previous article about the ASCAP suing a Syracuse, NY club because of its karaoke nights. I believe this is the beginning of something more insane!!! It maybe easier to go with the Sony New Self-Destructive DVD Player.
** I love BBspot it always makes me laugh but I love to sucker people in when I can with there humor but the ASCAP thing is real and not a joke.
