My little contraption for iPhone presentations
There are certain things that make me smile and this is one of them. On Monday, Paul Colton (my CEO) had to give a presentation at AjaxWorld West. He was looking for a good way to show how to display the debug of Ajax application using our the Aptana IDE and the physical iPhone using a iSight camera. I came with an idea and that would allow him to do so and be portable. I ran over to OfficeDepot and grabbed about $10 worth of items. They were very simple and thought it may work. All it took was one 8″ clip board and one sleeve of industrial strength velcro. Well, today Doug Campbell blogged about Paul’s speech here. In it he states:
“After my session, I met Paul Colton from Aptana. He did a presentation showing off their killer JavaScript focused IDE that has a lot of cool features – like syntax highlighting and code completion for JavaScript and all the AJAX libraries. He showed real-time debugging an iPhone app, using a contraption he built to show you the phone via an iSight camera. Using this thing, he sets the iPhone in the cradle and can zoom in on the screen to show it on his laptop display, along side the IDE. Then you can see the real-time editing/debugging process. It was very impressive!”

Well, low and behold there was my contraption. Fun but cool.
